I have to agree with this law. And I strongly support one in the United States as well. I mean if you are going to live here, you need to speak our language. When immigrants of all countries and languages came to America we didn’t have their language on anything. They either learned English or they couldn’t survive. However, now we put their language on everything; most in Spanish and some in French. But now, people come into the country, sometimes illegally, and just go around not knowing English. I understand if some people are opposed. I get that. You just came to a new country and now you have to know the language. However, in the Italian law:
Writing a postcard to an imaginary friend and answering a fictional job ad
That doesn’t seem hard. However, I should not judge its hardness because I do not speak a different language.
Another thing to keep in mind is that this is not a thing where if you come into the country at all, you must know that language. It is only if you want a work visa. If you are coming in for just a visit then you can speak whatever language you want.
Nevertheless, legislation like this is needed in America. If we just let people come in and shove their culture on us we are nothing! We have to stand for something.”Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.” ~Alexander Hamilton.
The concept of this and my previous points may not seem enough reason for making everyone who applies for a work visa learn English. I will agree in the beginning, but when you look into it, we will lose ourselves if we don’t do this. That seems extreme, but look at the map. To the South and Southwest in each one of those squares 22.7-91.3 percent have been speaking Spanish for five years and speaking it at home (Census 2000). Now, it seems to be a bigger issue. It is clear most of the work of this hopefully made law should be concentrated in the southwest. Now, I am not saying everyone needs to speak English twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, just be able to write a postcard to an imaginary friend and answer a fictional job ad. Then, you can go home and speak whatever you want.
As a Conservative blogger, you must at some point in your article look at your source article from the strict standpoint of limited government for Americans. In my opinion, this is not government taking over American lives. Is it a takeover of immigrant lives? I do not think so. We are not asking them to go through a huge ordeal. We are just asking you to be able to speak English. It is our country. That is one of the main things that make us. We are mainly Christian and speak English. Now, there are many who are not Christian and who do not speak English as a main language, but in my opinion that is out generalization: Christian, English-speaking. I must admit that I fit the bill under those two descriptions.
However in nearing the end, I must point out one thing. I am not trying to paint people who don’t speak English as people who are traitors and should be run out of America. I am just trying to preserve America. I do not want to slander the name of immigrants. America needs immigrants to put money into the system. Get some and spend some. The only thing we ask is for you to write a quick postcard, and respond to a job ad. I do not think I am asking the world. Do you believe I am? However, more importantly, what is your take? I am for it, but if it is one man against a nation, he will fail. However, one man and another and another and many, many more can make a big difference. Will you join me in preserving America? Still wanting and allowing many immigrants to come, but asking them for a simple deed? Will you join me? Will you?
